Founded in 2000 and based in the South East, we’ve earned a reputation for creating stunning, sustainable homes that respect the planet and elevate everyday life. As certified Passivhaus designers, we specialise in ultra-efficient homes using natural, bio-based materials that are built to last.

Hi, I’m Mark — a chartered architect passionate about creating buildings that support both human wellbeing and the health of our planet.

My journey ....
My journey into environmental sustainability began in the early 1990s. Just a few years after qualifying, I left a high-profile architecture practice and set off on travels across Europe, Africa, Asia, and South America. What I saw left a lasting impact. In many poorer regions, I witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of environmental degradation and climate change — impacts that wealthier nations at the time seemed barely aware of.
Those experiences reshaped my worldview. I knew I didn’t want to be part of the problem. I committed to living more consciously and to aligning my professional work with my values.
In 2000, I founded Koru Architects with a clear mission: to design low-energy, sustainable buildings that reduce carbon emissions and make use of healthy, natural materials. I’ve since deepened my expertise through extensive study and training, and have gone on to design a series of award-winning, environmentally responsible homes.
At Koru, we stay true to our purpose with integrity, care and creativity. We combine thoughtful design with deep environmental sensitivity — always striving for balance, beauty and lasting comfort in every home we create. Today, our practice delivers certified Passive House designs, zero-carbon homes, and buildings made with bio-based, non-toxic materials — helping clients live well while treading lightly on the planet.
