This contemporary home in Hove was designed for a family with a strong commitment to environmental sustainability. They wanted more than just a low-energy house — they envisioned a healthy, high-performing home that aligned with their values and nurtured their growing family.
Designed for People and Planet
Every aspect of the home’s design reflects a deep dedication to sustainable living. Drawing on Passivhaus principles, we integrated renewable energy systems, natural materials, and water conservation strategies throughout the build.
The zinc roof features integrated solar panels, providing electricity and hot water. A wood pellet boiler supports efficient underfloor heating, while rainwater harvesting supplies water for flushing WCs and irrigating the garden.
Naturally Built, Beautifully Healthy
Low embodied carbon materials were selected throughout, including hemp insulation, oak cladding, lime render, and a green sedum roof over the living space. Inside, only natural paints and oils were used — free from harmful chemicals — to create a safe, toxin-free environment for the family.
Lasting Comfort, Outstanding Performance
Thanks to these features, the home uses 50% less energy than the UK average and produces 93% fewer carbon emissions. The result is an award-winning, family-friendly home that delivers on beauty, comfort, and environmental integrity.
